I have a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood and Kindergarten Education and a Masters Degree in Library Science, both from UW-Madison, which is my hometown. Before moving to Fond du Lac I taught preschool for 10 years. I have been a librarian since 1994. I spent 14 years as a Children's and Teen Librarian, and am now a Reference Librarian. I have three boys, two grandkids and a rambunctious dog named Cocoa. I can be reached by phone at 322-3934 or email [email protected].

I grew up in Fond du Lac and have always enjoyed coming to the public library. Now I am one of the reference librarians. I am currently a member of the Fond du Lac County Historical Society, the Fond du Lac County Genealogical Society, the Wisconsin State Genealogical Society and several other area genealogy societies. I enjoy traveling and attending genealogy workshops to learn more about researching my own family history.
Joanne Mengel is a library assistant in the Information Services department at the Fond du Lac Public Library, with over 30 years of library experience. She coordinates the library's Homebound Program, and creates and processes interlibrary loan requests. Most days you will find her at the Help Desk on the first floor providing reader's advisory. She is an avid reader of just about any genre, but has a soft spot for romance and chick-lit. Look for her blog posts on the library website, where she will be posting reviews of everything from the latest thrillers to the "warm and fuzzies". You can contact her via email at [email protected]
Susan works at the Help Desk on first floor and the Reference Desk on second floor—but only at one desk at a time! She enjoys reading books that have a Wisconsin connection, feature dogs, are humorous, intriguing, historical, or are literary “book club type” books. She is happiest when she can find a book that combines all of those qualities. You can reach Susan at [email protected]
