Exhibit of Portraits by Chuck Wydevan

A new exhibit titled Some People that I Know….And a Few that I Don’t will open in the library's Langdon Divers Community Gallery on June 30th and will run through July 31st. Portrait artist Chuck Wydeven created the works. A public reception to meet the artist will be held on Wednesday, July 8th, from 6-8 p.m.

Wydevan received a degree in art education from UW-Oshkosh and currently teaches art at FACES. Prior to that he worked at the Minneapolis Art Institute. He also works as a free-lance portrait artist. Chuck has taught art with The Young Artists Workshop which is a program for physically and developmentally disabled teens. He also teaches LEAPS and College for Kids through the Department of Continuing Education, UW-Fond du Lac. Chuck lives in Fond du Lac with his wife Leslie and two sons. Fifth Annual Flower Show

The public is invited to attend the Fifth Annual In the Good Old Summertime Flower Show in the library's Langdon Divers Community Gallery on Friday, July 10 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and on Saturday, July 11, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event is sponsored by the Green Thumb Garden Club and the library. Visitors will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite arrangement and register to win a garden gift basket. The floral displays are divided into several categories including arrangements in unique containers. Local garden expert Sandra Smet of Green Thumb will be on hand both days to answer all your gardening and floral design questions. For more information, call (920) 929-7080.


PlayTots Program

PlayTots, a weekly program for children newborn through 24 months is offered in the Children’s Room on Friday mornings from 9 a.m. to noon, and on Monday evenings from 6 - 7 p.m. Children need to be accompanied by a parent or caregiver. No registration is necessary. Participants are encouraged to drop in at their convenience. The program provides unstructured free play and socializing for children. Play is an important part of child development and stimulates imagination, problem solving, and cooperation skills. The program also gives caregivers a chance to relax and visit with each other.

Five themes are rotated during the weekly programs: Shapes, Colors, Music, Construction, and Animals. Toys, books, music and parenting materials are available at each session. For more information please call 929-7080, ext. 127.
