The Fond du Lac Public Library hosts four adult book discussion groups every month.
- Ladies of the Evening meet the first Tuesday of the month from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. They do not meet in January, July and August.
- Bookworm Babes meet the first Tuesday of every month from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. They do not meet in January.
- Afternoon Delight meets the second Wednesday of each month from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. January through December.
- Eager Readers meet the second Wednesday of the month from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. They do not meet in July and August.
Members of the groups select their titles by consensus. The library provides copies of the selected titles a month in advance.
Some of the titles that have been featured in the book groups: Gone Girl, Peach Keeper, Unbroken, Defending Jacob, End of Your Life Book Club and Bone House.
Are you interested in forming your own book club? The Fond du Lac Public Library can help. You will need to recruit members and gather their contact information. Decide where you will meet, how often you will meet, how the books will be chosen, what the focus or style will be for the group, who should lead the group and how the members will obtain copies of the books. The library can offer suggestions for titles and help in finding discussion questions.
The library has Book Club Kits: bins of 10 copies of the same book and discussion questions that can be borrowed for up to 60 days. Anyone with a library account in good standing can borrow up to two kits at a time. Kits can be reserved, too, through the standard holds system. They cannot be renewed. For a list of the kits available through the Fond du Lac Public Library, enter the words Book Club Kit in the catalog search field or view the list of titles here.
