Come. Sit. Stay. on Oct 12

The library is hosting Come. Sit. Stay., a fun, dog-themed event for the whole family from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, October 12. The event is free and open to all and includes:

• 11 a.m.: Basic Dog Grooming. Do’s and don’ts anyone can do at home to keep their pets happy, clean and healthy presented by Chris Lang of Tails A Waggin of Fond du Lac.

How Does Michael Hingson Do That? will be presented at 6 p.m. Thursday, October 10, at the Fond du Lac Public Library. The presentation is free and open to the public. No registration required.

Prepare for emergencies with Oct 8 class

Emergency Preparedness at Home and Away will be presented at 6 p.m. Tuesday, October 8, at the Fond du Lac Public Library. The presentation is free and open to the public. No registration required.

Jim McNabb, who heads up the Fond du Lac County Dept. of Communication/Emergency Mangement, will talk about the easy steps anyone can take to protect themselves and their families during a natural or manmade disaster. This includes how to create an emergency supply kit, have an evacuation or sheltering plan and how to stay informed.

Half-day Fridays programs for kids

Kids who attend school in Fond du Lac School District get a bonus this year: early release on the first Fridays of the month starting in October. Parents perhaps aren’t as thrilled. The Fond du Lac Public Library has stepped in with a free program, Half Day Party at the Library, from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. every first Friday of the month starting October 4 with A Ghoulishly Good Time. The movie Casper will be shown, and ghoulishly good treats served.

Teen Read Week Oct 13-19

School’s going full speed ahead, and that means homework, projects due, chapters to finish. Teens need a break. Why not do something just for the fun of it?

1. Eligibility. Upcycled Glam is open to middle school and high school students, including home-school students, who attend school in FDL County. FDLPL employees and members of their immediate families are not eligible to enter.

Meet Jake & Charlie Oct 12

Jake and Charlie have been working side by side for more than five months. In that time, Charlie’s mastered such important skills as opening and closing doors, getting a tissue and picking up after his human friends. The duo’s work is nearly done.

FDL Reads celebrates 'Thunder Dog'

It was a national nightmare. Watching the 9/11 attacks on TV was unfathomable. Imagine sitting at your desk on the 78th floor of the North Tower and hearing a tremendous boom. Then the horror of feeling the building groan and tip.
