BookCellar Sideshow Sale April 15 & 20

The BookCellar is jumping on the circus bandwagon with a Sideshow Sale Monday, April 15, and Saturday, April 20, offering three paperbacks for $1 (some restrictions apply).

Food for Fines April 14-May 24

From April 14 through May 24, the Fond du Lac Public Library will waive $1 in overdue fines for each donation of a nonperishable food item. Food for Fines is being offered to celebrate National Library Week (April 14-20) and Money Smart Week (April 20-27), and to support the local Food for Freedom drive.

Friends annual membership drive April 15-19

The Friends of the Fond du Lac Public Library will hold their annual membership drive in the lobby of the library April 15-19 in celebration of National Library Week. The group promotes and encourages the use of library services by fundraising, supporting special events such as FDL Reads and providing programs for the community.

Memberships are $8 for an individual, $12 for family, $25 for a contributing membership and $100 for a lifetime membership.

Stop by the Friends table near the main entrance of the downtown library to join or renew your membership.

 

Friends' Annual Meeting features Windhover update

Exactly what’s up at the Windhover? Find out at the Friends of the Fond du Lac Library’s annual meeting 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 16. The public is invited to listen to a presentation by Windhover Center for the Arts Executive Director Kevin Miller.

Come one, come all to Big Top: The Greatest Library on Earth at the Fond du Lac Public Library Saturday, April 20, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

It's raining savings at BookCellar

It’s raining bargains at the Fond du Lac Public Library’s BookCellar. The city’s only used book store is holding two great sales in April:

April 6 No Foolin’ Sale: Free magazine with every purchase of an audio book.

April 15 and April 20 Sideshow Sale: Three paperbacks for $1 (some restrictions apply). This sale is being held to celebrate National Library Week (April 14-20). The library is holding a Big Top: The Greatest Library Event party from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 20.

Five Counties Lake Project presentation April 17

Five counties – Fond du Lac, Calumet, Outagamie, Waushara and Winnebago – are working together on a plan to improve the Lake Winnebago system.

Michael Lizotte, president of the Winnebago Lakes Council and professor of biology at UW-Oshkosh, will provide an update on the project at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, at the Fond du Lac Public Library. The program is presented by the Lake Winnebago Quality Improvement Association.

Czech novelist to discuss writing, book on April 4

Fond du Lac author Edita Birschbach will present A Czech Novelist in America, at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 4, at the Fond du Lac Public Library. Birschbach, who recently published her e-book Brilliant Nightmare, will talk about how growing up in the Czech Republic influenced her writing of the suspense novel.

Paws to Read helps young readers

Kids ages 6 and older who could benefit from practicing their reading are invited to participate in Paws to Read at the Fond du Lac Public Library.

Burgess wins Wisconsin Financial Literacy Award

Lori Burgess, Support Services coordinator at the Fond du Lac Public Library, received the 2012 Wisconsin Financial Literacy Award by Gov. Scott Walker in a March 1 ceremony in Madison.
