April sales at The BookCellar

Spring might be elusive, but sales are popping up all over at The BookCellar at the Fond du Lac Public Library, the city’s only used book store:

Saturday, April 12: Play It Again, all recreation and sports books half price.

Monday, April 21: Earth Day, buy-one, get one free from the natural science section.

Saturday, April 26 and Monday, April 28, Biography Bonanza, choose from a huge selection of biographies and memoirs, just 25 cents.

Celebration of the Book April 12

The word “book” used to mean one thing: a bunch of printed pages bound together with a sturdy cover. Now, it can be something you listen to or – more frequently – a digital file accessed on an electronic device. Regardless of how it’s delivered, the book is the thing at the Fond du Lac Public Library.

Friends host author Ann Peters April 15

Ann Peters grew up in Taycheedah, just off Highway 151. After graduating from Goodrich, she went to University of Notre Dame and, armed with her degree, off to New York City. Peters’ father, Roger Peters, was a successful local architect. He designed the family home on the Ledge as well as many other notable residences.

Kids are a big part of what Money Smart Week is all about.

Two great sales are on tap in March at the Fond du Lac Public Library BookCellar, the city’s only used book store.

Saturday, March 15: Pot o’ Gold Sale, kids’ books are buy one, get one free (some restrictions).

Saturday, March 29, and Monday, March 31: Spring in Your Step Sale, all health and wellness books are half price.

Team Trivia raffle tickets on sale

What’s a new way to help literacy in our community? Team Trivia raffle tickets, of course. Tickets are on sale starting February 23 at the Fond du Lac Public Library, Saavy Boutique, Dynamic Chiropractic and Gallery & Frame Shop.

Tickets are $5 each or three for $10 and offer a chance to win:

'Cutting Boards & Collages' in gallery in March

Retired college instructor Roxine McQuitty will bring her eclectic collection, Cutting Boards and Collages, to the Fond du Lac Public Library’s Langdon Divers Gallery from March 3 to April 2.

Celtic Soul: Celtic Stories March 19

Performing three Celtic tales – from myth, legend and Ireland’s early Christian era - professional storyteller Midge Miles will go beyond St. Patrick’s Day clichés with Celtic Soul: Celtic Stories at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, at the Fond du Lac Public Library.

No-Sew Scarves Crafternoon sign-up starts March 1

Crafters should bring two washed T-shirts (sizes L and XL work best) to No-Sew Scarves Crafternoon at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 15, at the Fond du Lac Public Library. Space is limited, and registration is required beginning at 9 a.m. March at the Calendar or by calling the Help Desk at (920) 322-3929.

MPTC IT Club teaching tech classes

The Moraine Park Technical College IT Club is offering a series of four classes – Technology Sampling – free to the public at the Fond du Lac Public Library.
