A letter found in a dusty attic describes a young woman, an injustice that happened decades ago … and a mystery that, if solved, could lead to a fortune.

This is the premise of this year’s selection for Fond du Lac Reads: “The Parker Inheritance” by Varian Johnson.

Each fall, the Fond du Lac Public Library encourages the community to read one book and hosts programs that foster discussion and understanding of the themes in that title. To participate, community members are encouraged to check out “The Parker Inheritance” from the Fond du Lac Public Library before the program formally kicks off in November.

Read how young Candace, with the help of a quiet boy from across the street, begins to decipher clues that lead them deep into their hometown’s history -- a history full of secrets. Can they find the fortune and fulfill the letter’s promise before the answers slip into the past yet again?

Virtual events associated with this year’s Fond du Lac Reads selection will be announced as this year’s program in November grows closer.

To learn more about these events and more from the Fond du Lac Public Library, watch the library’s website at fdlpl.org and follow the library on Facebook and Twitter (both @FDLPL)
