It’s been in the sun all summer, now your skin is headed for the indoors and the rigors of central heating. How to pamper your largest organ without breaking the bank? DIY!

The Fond du Lac Public Library is offering a four-part series, DIY Skin Care, this fall to demonstrate how to cook up lotions and potions to suit every skin type. The programs all are free and open to adults and teens age 13 and older. Samples provided. Each program requires registration online at the Calendar. Registration opens at 9:30 a.m. two weeks before each program. The series:

  • Understanding Essential Oils, 6 p.m. Monday, September 10. Registered nurse and clinical aromatherapist Polly Huenink-Schellinger will explain how essential oils work, safety measures when used and some of the ways therapists use different scents. Registration starts at 9:30 a.m. Monday, August 27.
  • Scrubs, 6 p.m. Monday, October 8. Learn how to use everyday household ingredients to make a variety of exfoliating body scrubs. Registration starts at 9:30 a.m. Monday, September 24.
  • Soaps, 6 p.m. Monday, November 12. Learn to make soaps that don’t rely on caustic chemicals and finicky formulas. Registration starts at 9:30 a.m. Monday, October 29.
  • Lotions, 6 p.m. Monday, December 10. Make soothing and infinitely customizable lotions at home. Registration starts at 9:30 a.m. Monday, November 26.
