Fond du Lac Public Library will encourage area residents to register to vote in time for the 2020 presidential election by participating in the 2020 National Voter Registration Day.

Two events are scheduled: one for all eligible voters, and one specifically for teens. Both will offer online voter registration assistance.

First, on Tuesday, September 22 — the official National Voter Registration Day  — the Fond du Lac Public Library will hold an event at McDermott Park Shelter at the intersection of E. Johnson Street and Coffman Avenue in Fond du Lac.

Individuals will be on hand to help residents who will be at least 18 years old on Tuesday, November 3 register to vote. The program will occur rain or shine at the park’s shelter.

This will be held on the same day that communities nationwide hold similar events.

Then, on Saturday, September 26, teens who will be at least 18 years old on election day will be invited to stop by the Fond du Lac Public Library for help registering to vote.

With a historic presidential election approaching, every eligible American voter should exercise their right to be heard at the ballot box, and National Voter Registration Day is the right day to start by getting registered.

Thousands of national, state, and local organizations and volunteers will be the driving force behind National Voter Registration Day 2020. Partner organizations will coordinate hundreds of National Voter Registration Day events on and offline nationwide.

The effort’s website, www.NationalVoterRegistrationDay.org, provides a listing of National Voter Registration Day events across the country, in communities and held virtually.

Founded in 2012, National Voter Registration Day is designed to create an annual moment when the entire nation focuses on registering Americans to exercise their most basic right – the right to vote. Nearly 3 million Americans have registered to vote on the holiday since the inaugural National Voter Registration Day in 2012.
