Fond du Lac Public Library’s popular program, History at Home, returns virtually in September for its first presentation since last winter.

Jennifer Lukomski, archivist for the Sisters of St. Agnes, will present "Gratitude for the Past, Hope for the Future: CSA in Fond du Lac, 1870-2020,” recalling the history of the Sisters of St. Agnes.

The program is free; no registration required. It will be offered via Facebook Live, premiering Thursday, Sept. 17 at 6 p.m.

One-hundred-fifty years ago, Mother Agnes Hazotte moved the Congregation of Sisters of St. Agnes from Barton, Wis., to Fond du Lac. This presentation will explore the reasons behind this courageous move and the early history of the sisters in Fond du Lac, with a discussion about the collaborative efforts between the sisters and community leaders that have left an imprint on the city.

Lukomski has been the archivist for the Sisters of St. Agnes since 2016. She has a bachelor's degree from Alverno College and a master's in Library Science from UW-Milwaukee. Prior to moving to Fond du Lac, she was an archivist at the Western Historical Manuscript Collection at the University of Missouri-Columbia.

History at Home focuses on stories about the area's past every third Thursday of the month. The programs are free; no registration required. Many History at Home programs are captured on video and shared on the library's YouTube channel. That link can be found at fdlpl.org/miss-program.

Be sure to stop by the Fond du Lac Public Library as well, where five banners featuring the history of the Sisters of St. Agnes will be displayed near the central stairwell.
