Everyone participating in Summer Reading @ the Library must turn in their reading cards by Aug. 15 to reap their just rewards for reading. Cards can be turned in at any downtown Main Library service desk or curbside pickup. Due to the pandemic and the library’s dedication to keeping the community and staff safe, all of the library’s summer programming is virtual or outdoors.

The August program lineup for teens:

Teen Outdoor Photo Scavenger Hunt: Find the five photo assignments, snap them and email them to teens@fdlpl.org. Teens who submit all five will receive 10 extra entries in the Summer Reading @ the Library grand prize drawings. Each teen is limited to one set of photos. The August emailed entries are due no later than Aug 14:

  1. Something square
  2. A “for sale” sign
  3. Something caught in action
  4. A lawn ornament
  5. Outdoor wild card – the more creative the better

Harry Potter Virtual Escape Room: Through Aug. 2. As you wander the halls of Hogwarts, you walk through a classroom and – OH NO! – Peeves locks you in! Be brave like Harry, logical like Hermione and vigilant like Ron to escape the room before Filch finds you. Find the link at fdlpl.org or facebook.com/FDLPL.

Chow Down! Virtual Cook-Along Program: 1:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, at facebook.com/FDLPL. Follow along with us to make a delicious snack. You’ll need whipped cream, graham crackers and strawberries (yum). No registration.
