Forget March Madness. Around these parts, the big contest on everyone’s radar is Team Trivia. The 18th annual event will be held March 6 and March 8 at Whispering Springs Golf Club. The fun event is a fundraiser for Fond du Lac Literacy Services.

Anyone can play Team Trivia, where teams of four bust their brains over questions on music, movies, history, sports, literature, geography, science and Wisconsin. At the end of the game, scores are tallied and awards are given to the top three teams. The first-place team on March 6 will be invited back to compete – for free – on March 8. And the first-place team on March 8 will be invited back, for free, to next year’s competition.

Team registration is $100. The event includes a cash bar and optional Pulled Pork Sandwich buffet dinner for an extra $15. Sign-in and dinner start at 5 p.m., and the quizzing begins at 6:30 p.m.

Trained tutors provide free, one-on-one instruction. It’s estimated that eight percent, or 6,000 adults, in Fond du Lac County read below the sixth grade level. The Literacy office is located at the Fond du Lac Public Library.
